Your guide to authentic Japan experiences

The metropolis Tokyo is known to be a haven for Otaku. Whether you’re a nerd who loves anime or games, there’s plenty to do or see. There are the more obvious places to go like Akihabara (Akiba) but I’ve listed a few more below, just for fun:

Museums

Japan has a wealth of museums catering to numerous tastes and interests. If you’re into the Otaku culture, be sure to check out these. Tokiwaso Manga Museum in Toshima city Dagashiya Game Museum in Itabashi Suginami Animation Museum in Suginami The names of these museums are pretty self explanatory. Tokiwaso is a museum dedicated to Manga. Dagashiya Game Museum is devoted to showing vintage video games you might recognise from your childhood. The Suginami Animation Museum shows all manners of animation including the dubbing process and allowing visitors to make animation themselves.

Themed Cafes

Themed events are one of the things that Japan does well! See below for some themed cafes that you can book while visiting Japan. Square Enix Cafe Pokemon Cafe Ninja Cafe The Square Enix Cafe have a couple of locations in Tokyo (Akiba and Shinjuku) and have both Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest themed foods/souvenirs. We all know of the Pokemon Cafes for their cute food and instagrammable spots. Just be sure to book in advance as reservations do go fast! The Ninja Cafe is equipped with Ninja’s serving your food and providing entertainment. Your food may even be set on fire in front of your eyes!

Shibuya Parco Building

Parco in Shibuya is the hippest shopping mall in Tokyo. While there’s plenty of food and fashion, the 6th floor is where the nerds are going to be! The 6th floor is known as CYBERSPACE SHIBUYA and has a Capcom store, a Nintendo Store and of course, a must see Pokemon Centre. You could lose yourself here for easily a couple of hours.

So there’s a few tips for Otaku visiting spots. I have plenty more spots up my sleeve, some more obvious, some less known. Get in contact with me to book your Japanese Itinerary!
